We treat pets, period. We treat pets that bark, meow, bounce, have feathers or are covered in scales. We treat pets the size of great Danes and pets that are tiny as mice. Some of the pets that we treat are, in fact, mice!

Exceptional pet care is our passion, our focus, and our specialty. Pet care is not our sideline. We understand that pets are part of your family because pets are a part of our families.

Our goal is to provide specialty-level veterinary medical and surgical care right here in Marshalltown, Iowa at our general veterinary practice.

The Hometown Veterinarian is owned and operated by Dr. Grant Jacobson who is a compassionate veterinarian with over 24 years of experience practicing high-quality small animal medicine and surgery.

He is joined by four exceptional veterinarians and a team of outstanding para-professionals who are all focused on providing the best care possible to our animal patients.

Our locally-owned, full-service animal hospital was voted Best of the Best Veterinarian in 2019. 2020, 2021, and 2022 in Marshalltown's Times-Republican Newspaper. We continue to be humbled and honored by the community support of our hospital and team.

Had our first visit yesterday for a nail clip and wellness check for our two bunnies. It was a completely positive experience. The clinic is easy to access and has ample parking. The entire clinic is clean and well-maintained.The lobby is large and well-designed so that your pets are not too close to other's pets. Exam rooms include heated exam tables which is a wonderful feature that I haven't found at any other vet office. Dr. Jacobson took a thorough history and did a comprehensive physical exam. I got a surprise this morning. The clinic called to ask how the bunnies are doing and if I had any questions or concerns to address with the Doctor. Hometown Vet was impressive in every aspect. Very highly recommended!

I absolutely love the culture and environment of an independently owned veterinary clinic. All of the staff are welcoming, patient, kind and you can tell they all have a passion for what they do! We saw Dr Hoyt today who specializes in cat dentistry. My cat had surgery for reabsorption ulcers. Dr Hoyt was very thorough with explaining and educating me on this condition and treatment, she is absolutely wonderful! I always leave with the feeling my pets have received the best care possible.

Dr. Kvidera does an awesome job with our large undisciplined country dogs. :) It's always an adventure taking the barking goofball lab or the scared-of-everything shepherd to the vet, but the whole office does a great job managing our much-loved 4-legged family members.
